We extend a warm invitation to join us on Thursday evening, March 21, 2024, from 7 pm to 9 pm in the main Church of St. John Neumann, Gaithersburg, MD, for a captivating exploration of the Shroud of Turin.
Centuries ago, in adherence to Jewish law, the body of the crucified was required to be wrapped in linen cloth untainted by the mixture of wool. Thus began the compelling journey of the Shroud, a sacred relic with a rich history, ultimately bequeathed to the Pope and the Catholic Church by the esteemed Savoy Family.
Today, the Shroud is safeguarded within the double-vaulted security of the Catholic Church in Turin, Italy. A question lingers in the hearts of many: Is this the authentic winding sheet that enveloped the body of Jesus Christ?
Delve into an enlightening evening as we explore the findings of scientific research, archaeology, history, and art over the centuries, all contributing to the ongoing discourse on the Shroud's authenticity. Leveraging cutting-edge AI technology, we will unveil the stark realities of the wounds imprinted on the cloth, while our knowledgeable speakers draw connections to the scriptures in the Gospels.
Presented by Jimmy Naulty, Parishioner, St. James Catholic Church, with an introduction into the historical timelime by Allan Rabil, SJN Parish, this event promises an immersive experience. Interactive demonstrations and a live-stream will engage adults, young adults, and teenagers alike, offering an opportunity to delve deeper into the profound narrative of the passion and death of Jesus Christ as depicted in the images of the Shroud of Turin.
Come and be part of an evening that encourages reflection and learning. Decide for yourself the significance of this relic – believed by many to be the authentic burial cloth of Jesus Christ. Your presence and curiosity are warmly welcomed as we collectively unravel the mysteries of the Shroud.
