I wanted to take a moment, on behalf of all the priests (and our seminarian Conor) to wish you a very Blessed Easter.
It has been a Lent like none other. We did not have to look for the cross. It came to us very unexpectedly, just like it came very unexpectedly for the disciples. It was painful and hard.
These have been very difficult weeks for all of us, some more difficult than others, and I wanted you to know that you have been held deep in my prayers each and ever day. I pray especially for those who have been sick, or have lost loved ones during the pandemic. I pray for those that are alone or experience loved one’s suffering and dying alone. I pray for all those who are anxious and afraid. I pray for you all.
I am also deeply edified by your faith and for the many who have shared that their relationship with Jesus is growing. I am so grateful for all your kinds words, your thanks, and encouragement during this difficult time. I am grateful to the many who have generously contributed to the parish during this time. Thank you! I would never have imagined my first Holy Week and Easter at SJN to have been like this, but I am profoundly grateful to God that he has sent me to you.
Jesus has Risen! Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to the disciples to assure them that He has conquered all things, including suffering and death. He made their faith stronger, and their hearts more charitable. They could then see that the cross was hard, but also a thing of beauty that changed their lives. Their eyes were even more fixed on the Lord after He left them as they went to proclaim the good news to all.
We too embrace the resurrection of Jesus in faith. It is hard to see the hope that lies in the resurrection of Jesus when we are still embracing the cross, but know that Jesus is alive in our world and in our hearts. He makes our faith stronger and our hearts more charitable. He will change our lives for the better if we turn to Him and receive His grace. Jesus has conquered death and so there is nothing to fear. Jesus wants to be close to us now, and for an eternity. We will experience the Resurrection. Do not be afraid.
May God bless all of you and fill you with Easter joy!
Please pour out prayers for our world and our community. That is most important right now. If you are able to make an Easter financial contribution, know that I would be very grateful.
God Bless you all and once again a blessed Easter to each and every one of you.
