The mission of St. John Neumann’s Respect Life Ministry is to promote a culture of life by pursuing the protection of all human life and the promotion of human dignity through a profoundly consistent service of charity. We are committed to defending the most vulnerable and defenseless members of the human family with a dedication to observing and promoting the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church on all life issues, including abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, and assisted suicide. Through the Gospel of Life, it is our mission to respect, protect, love and serve life, every human life (The Gospel of Life no.5), regardless of distinction.
Spiritual Adoption
Spiritual Adoption is an opportunity to pledge a daily prayer for nine months for a baby who is in danger of abortion. This prayer is found on the Spiritual Adoption Prayer cards. that you can download below. Our prayers CAN make a difference between whether a baby will be born … or aborted. Our prayers can also be a form of spiritual support for both of the parents. Please share the love of life given to you by the Lord of all life and join in spiritually adopting a baby.
Our vision is to advance the position that all life has dignity from the moment of conception to the end of life through public information and education, public policy efforts, pastoral care, and prayer and worship; bringing the extraordinary love and goodwill of Jesus to our community.
You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are your works!
My very self you know.
-Psalm 139:13-14
The Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities: A Campaign in Support of Life is put forth by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). The program reaffirms a dedication to the cause of life and its inviolability, calling on all Catholics to unite in an unprecedented effort to restore respect and legal protection for every human life, to be what the Holy Father asks us to be: a people of life and a people for life (The Gospel of Life, no. 78).
Our goal in the Respect Life Ministry is to support the Pastoral Plan and to make available to you, tools and opportunities so that you can be a promoter and defender of life in your own family and social groups. It is our hope and expectation that in focusing on the need to respect and protect the lives of the innocent unborn and those who are disabled, ill, or dying, we will help to deepen respect for the life of every human being.
The Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment is a ballot initiative that would enshrine abortion in the Maryland constitution. It would not change abortion availability but would remove the few safeguards in place. Also, a constitutional amendment is a permanent change and would take away our legislators’ flexibility to craft laws that best serve women’s needs and interests, including future safeguards for their health.
